Daye Stone was announced as the new superintendent for Days Creek Charter School on Monday.
Stone was selected by a hiring committee Thursday night to replace the retiring Joe LaFountaine. The committee conducted final interviews earlier in the day. Corrine Buich was the other finalist.
“I am humbled, honored, and excited to return home after a 29 year educational journey to serve the community I grew up in,” Stone said in a released statement. “Plainly put, I believe Days Creek is a special place where kids come first and the love for a school community is real.
“I believe education is a journey where students get to build knowledge and skills by defining purpose, while exploring the process of learning,” he continued. “By fostering curiosity, encouraging voice and choice, and maintaining high expectations, we create a place of success for every stakeholder.”
Stone, a Days Creek graduate, is currently the superintendent of Prospect Charter School.
Buich is principal of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Lake Oswego.
