Have you ever wanted to go to a tropical island for a vacation?
And I know what you’re thinking “I’ll just go to Hawaii, everyone goes to Hawaii.”
You could go there if you want or you could visit another island that doesn’t get as much recognition. It’s a smaller island than Hawaii but offers the same activities, maybe even more and that’s the Mariana Island Guam. It is one of the most beautiful islands.
Although it is smaller in size compared to other islands with only about 170,000 people living there. There’s still a lot of culture to be spread such as the food, tourist attractions, etc. Also if you want a blend of different cultural foods Guam is the place there’s Chamorro, Filipino, and Spanish flavors.
Some of my favorites would have to be red rice which is like Spanish rice but better, kelaguen is meat cooked in lemon juice. I’ve made it before with my mom, and all the BBQs that happen on the island are all through the roof.
There’s also a lot of history about the island as well, there’s a bunch of tourist attractions like ancient latte stone pillars sites and there’s entertainment too such as fire dancing and just traditional dances, and a wide variety of cultural crafts such as palm-leaf weaving, stone carving, and also pottery.
There’s also a lot of places you can hike to such as hidden jungle waterfalls, there’s some ancient villages still on the island too that you can visit that hold a lot of history.
And not to mention the beaches and ocean that surround Guam are better than what you can imagine there’s crystal clear waters where you can dive and snorkel but watch out because if you step wrong you may step on a stone fish because those are common in the ocean of Guam and they’re not very friendly.
But overall Guam is a vacation destination that offers adventure, culture, relaxation, and beautiful scenery all on one island so you should definitely check it out when you get the chance.
To just go somewhere to escape everything and the locals on the island are all welcoming and nice, so enjoy some culture because everything is better with some culture.
