In the past three years at Days Creek Charter School we have had one winter formal dance. It was in 2023 and it was at the Canyonville Community Center at nighttime and there was no theme.
The students that attended this winter formal seemed to have had a great time.
“I had a good time, it was nice, not as many people showed up as I thought there would be,” said junior Chyson Hayes.
Some schools are deciding not to have a winter formal so they can have a better homecoming or a winter formal.
Our Homecoming this year was fun but students were pretty disappointed we did not have a dance. Junior classes are typically in charge of organizing prom, and last year’s juniors (now seniors), decided not to have a winter formal so that we could have more money for the prom.
Students were pretty disappointed by this, and this year they expected to have a winter formal.
“I really wish we had one but it’s OK I guess,” said sophomore Jazmin Estrada.
Senior Drew Sawyer is pretty disappointed about not having a winter formal for his senior year and thinks we should’ve at least been told we wouldn’t have one.
Many of the students at Days Creek Charter school have brought up that we should still have a winter formal. Especially because there wasn’t a lot spent on the Homecoming bonfire because we don’t even have a dance. Most of the high schoolers are really hoping we will have a winter formal in 2026-27.
