Freshman Boe McNeely is headed to the OSAA 2A/1A state cross country meet.
McNeely placed fifth at the district meet in Rogue River last Thursday in a time of 17:28 over the 5,000-meter course. It was the fourth-fastest time in school history and almost a minute personal record.
Days Creek placed fourth out of 23 teams and just missed out on a state berth as a team. All five of the Wolves scoring runners broke the 20-minute barrier, including Trenton Ladd (33rd, 19:40), Lucius Young (35th, 19:46), Sawyer Payne (38th, 19:55) and Izaac Hartzell (39th, 19:57). Ty Sawyer (41st, 20:13) and Drew Sawyer (47th, 20:32) also ran on varsity.Â
In the JV race, Owen Fain (20th, 23:21), Kaden Wiles (21st, 23:31), Jude Sawyer (23rd, 25:09) and Dylan Steinbach (34th, 29:59) represented the Wolves.
Six out of Days Creek’s 11 runners ran their best times at districts.
McNeely will race on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lane Community College in Eugene. He is Days Creek’s first state qualifier since Malachi Gibson competed in the spring of 2021.Â
