Middle school cross country now a sport

Cross country is now being offered as a sport for middle schoolers at Days Creek Charter School.

Gage Hart is the team’s sole runner — so far.

Hart, a transfer from Fleming Middle School in Merlin, competed in his first race Wednesday, placing 6th at the Maynard Mai Memorial in Glide.

He ran the 3,000-meter race in 12 minutes, 26 seconds.
