Softball season was a struggle for our softball team. From moving games around due to weather or losing girls due to injuries.

“I hate moving games around, because sometimes they end up moving them to a day that you had plans on,” explained catcher Raime Wheeler.

Even though our girls have had to move games and have lost players they have still had a winning streak of 12 wins.

This last week The Days Creek Wolves had lost one of there games in a double header at Elkton, losing the winning streak, the ending score was 2-5, The loss was a little frustrating to the Wolves but they came out with fire ready to fight for their next game. Winning the last game against Elkton put the Wolves in fourth place in the Special Distract.

The Wolves went off to play Glide in a double header at Glide on May 14th and came out with two losses. First game the Wolves lost 14-4 and the second game the Wolves lost 7-9, even though the Wolves lost they where still happy they held Glide 7-2 for 5 innings in the last game. Glides coach said “Days Creek was one of the best teams they have seen all season” the wolves took that as a good complement. The losses against Glide held the Wolves in 4th place, their next game they play Thursday at Monroe against Oakridge if the Wolves win they go on in the same day to play Monroe.

Days Creek played at Monroe against Oakridge and came out with a loss. It was a rough day for the Wolves, the ending score was 15-3. “Losing to Okridge was a little disappointing since we have 10 runned them two times at home,” Bailey Stufflebeamsaid. Days Creek defeated Oakridge 12-2 and 16-6 earlier in the season, which is a little disappointing to the Wolves after winning two times to them and then losing a big game to them. Losing the game the Wolves ended up playing the first round of state at Days Creek against Coquille, Which was a big deal to the wolves.

During the game the Wolves played hard and fought back winning the match 18-10 coming out with a victory, The Days Creek Lady Wolves made history for their school by making it to the 2nd round of state. Winning the game the Wolves traveled to Union to play Union/Cove.

In Union, the lady Wolves played hard but didn’t play up to their potential, falling to Union/Cove with a score of 11-1. This game was the last game of the Wolves season and the last game for the Wolveses seniors Fionna Ketchem, Robyn Stratford, Hannah Geiger, and Kaydence Black. These girls all played great when they where in, and gave it their all. It will be sad to see them go.
