Junior Bailey Stufflebeam poses next to a fir tree grown years ago as an FFA project. Trees can be purchased.

Did you know that the fir trees growing toward the entrance to campus are Christmas trees that can be purchased? The project was started years ago and many Vo-Ag teachers ago.

That they are ready to be cut and put to use. The cost ranges between $30 and $50. Proceeds benefit the Days Creek FFA program. Days Creek FFA has maintained the trees so that they are in good shape and healthy. The trees come in a variety of sizes.

“Some of the trees closer to the ag building are roughly 6 1/2 feet tall with some closer to the main building being anywhere between 4 to 10 feet tall,” FFA advisor Jonathan Lopez said.

According to Lopez, the money from the Christmas trees will be put in an account for the future use of growing more trees.

To get a Christmas tree on campus, contact Mr. Lopez at (541) 825-3296 and an FFA member will cut and prune it down for you.

Lopez also recommends going Christmas tree hunting with a permit from Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. “Or you can go to a tree farm and cut it yourself,” he said.
