The new Starbucks in Tri City has some novelty, but most in Days Creek remain loyal to local coffee franchise Dutch Bros.
The Starbucks, located in the Grocery Outlet and Tractor Supply complex, opened on Sept. 4.
“Good vibes, but it should be a Dutch Bros.,” said eighth grader Surennity Buckner.
Days Creek teachers also said they preferred Dutch Bros.
“Starbucks is a great addition to the community but I prefer Dutch Bros.,” said English teacher Anna Rickards.
Students, especially out-of-district ones, have enjoyed studying in Starbucks and enjoying the vibes.
“I love it, I get coffee every morning now,” said sophomore Jazmin Estrada.
Some students are enjoying Starbucks more than others.
“I hate it,” junior Chyson Hayes said.
Some students applied for employment at the new Starbucks, without luck.
Starbucks is the first coffee franchise in South County. Oregon Sunshine Espresso in Canyonville and Soco’s in Myrtle Creek offer similar services.
The nearest Dutch Bros. to Days Creek is in the Green District. The fast-growing chain was founded in nearby Grants Pass.
