Seniors at Days Creek Charter School are required to complete a senior project to graduate.
The 14 graduating seniors in the Class of 2025 have all submitted their projects and accompanying essays.
Most seniors performed job shadows with professionals in desired fields of study. Others completed projects that met certain criteria in the Senior Portfolio class taught by Anna Rickards.
Travis Doolittle had an ongoing project where he led a Dungeons & Dragons board game activity during DiscoverU. For multiple months, Doolittle taught the complicated game to fellow students.
“It was a little difficult to set up at the beginning, but once we developed characters and they learned more about it, it became easier,” Doolittle said. “You learn a lot about a game by teaching it.”
The remaining projects are:
Aiden Denson shadowed the postmaster at the Tiller Post Office.
FFA Chapter vice president Jana Ewing earned her state FFA degree last summer.
Dylan Garner and Isaiah Sprague helped at the Days Creek elementary Christmas Bazaar.
Anaya Gideon illustrated a story about creatures and land animals.
Chris Harders shadowed Days Creek shop teacher Brian Agee.
Natalie Harris shadowed a dentist at SMILES Dental in Riddle.
Shayleigh Lynn shadowed at a beauty salon.
Curtis McCullough refurbished the benches outside Canyon Market.
Tay Richey shadowed South Umpqua High School special education teacher Amy Raburn.
Keegan Stufflebeam hauled rock using an excavator for S5 Forestry in Tiller.
