Longtime lunch lady Sarah Luster will be serving her last meal this school year.
Sarah has dedicated herself to Days Creek Charter School since 2004.
Luster expressed her excitement about retirement.
“I miss having a garden,” said Luster, who was born in Milo but now lives in Tiller. “I’m looking forward to getting back into painting again.”
Sarah also been responsible for lunches, and breakfasts for kindergarten through 12th grade, impacting students and coworkers along the way. Interaction with all 13 grades at the school is a huge perk for Luster.
“It will always be about the kids,” Luster said. “It’s taught me so much. It’s amazing how much you can learn from them.”
She said some of most touching advice she has received was from a kindergartener: “Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to ask for help,” she said.
Luster said she enjoys watching the students grow over the years.
“The high school students I’ve known since elementary school,” she said.
Serving for the more than 200 students at the school is a difficult task.
“I’ve learned that you’ve got to keep moving forward,” Luster said.
Her replacement is Angela Gosso, who has been training for the years ahead.
Many students enjoy being around Luster. She loves to greet them in the morning for breakfast and lunch, making everyone feel welcome at Days Creek Charter School.
As Sarah embraces on this new chapter in her life, we celebrate her countless contributions to our school community and wish her all the best in her retirement.
Her warmth and dedication will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire both students and staff at Days Creek Charter School.
