Days Creek Football will face significant changes as the 2024-2025 season begins to come around the corner. Dropping down from 8-man to 6-man football, has proven to test the players grit and ability. The Wolves league will stay the same, but three teams will be moving up to 8-man, leaving less competition, but a greater need to crack down and play hard.
The Wolves will face an exceptionally difficult challenge, as senior Wyatt Geiger, previous quarterback, is lost to graduation, leaving some big shoes to fill.
“It’s hard losing a star quarterback, but we gotta make it work,” junior running back Aiden Denson said.
The Wolves will be sophomore heavy this upcoming season, as many freshmen will be returning to keep the game alive.
”It’s going to be a challenge, but I think they will surprise us,” third-year assistant coach said.
The loss of senior experience will be difficult to overcome, but not impossible. When asked about who the new starting quarterback would be, David Hunt head football coach said that it would most likely be Camden Stufflebeam, an upcoming junior, who seems to be the most likely player for the position, but nothing is yet for certain.
The football spirit has slightly dwindled over the past few years due to the shrinking size of the players and crowd, but this season will hopefully be different, as new faces and fans come to support our team.
The Wolves schedule is still not perfectly in order but these are some of their upcoming games this season.
They are set to host Jewell in the opening game of the season, but Hunt said its unlikely Jewell will have enough players to field a team. Days Creek hosts Glendale in Week 3 and Elkton in Week 4. The Wolves will have a long road trip scheduled when they face C.S. Lewis Academy of Newberg in Week 5.
