The Days Creek girls softball team is getting a new coach this year which will be Anna Rickards and her husband Greg Rickards as the assistant coach.
“I’m really excited for this softball season and for the great group of players that have committed to play this year,” Anna Rickards said. “The new league will be an interesting change and the new scoreboard is a
great upgrade to the field.”
The Softball league is changing this year. They used to be in Special District 5 but know they will be playing in Special District 6. The Wolves will face different teams that they wouldn’t normally play like Bonanza, Chiloquin, Lost River, and Illinois Valley. But they will still play a couple familiar teams like Riddle and Glendale.
“I’m hopeful because it looks like we have a good chance but I wish we could have had a chance to beat North Douglas at two sports in one year,” Senior Gracie Stone said.
This year they are adding a new scoreboard to Javelin Ormond Field because in the past there has been a non-digital scoreboard that hung on the outside of the dugout and you would have to change the score by hand it was also super hard for the fans to see the score so with the new one being added it will make it a lot easier for everyone to see the score no matter where they are sitting.
They have already ran the electrical wire for the new score board on the softball and baseball field but they are still waiting for them to arrive. They have been told that the scoreboards are supposed to arrive March 4 so once they arrive they will start getting them set up for the new season.
Opening pitch on the 2024 season is March 12 at Oakland.
