The seniors in the Class of 2024 were disappointed this year to find out that the Days Creek did not designate specific parking spaces for the seniors.
In the past, the school has allowed assigned parking spots for the seniors of each year close to the main building of the school. This was a reward for years of study at the school.
With each chosen or assigned parking spot each individual senior was allowed to decorate their spot with art, designs, or other creative ideas. That spot would be claimed as their own for the year.
The last senior class to have reserved spaces was the Class of 2020. Then came the Covid-19 pandemic and parking nearest the school was reserved for parents picking up and dropping off homework packets.
Consecutive grades with a higher than average amount of 16-year-olds arrived, pushing the school’s parking to its limit.
But the pandemic has passed and the parking lot is no longer at its limit. Halfway through this school year, we seniors are wondering where the reserved spaces went.
“I think it would be beneficial for the seniors to have their own parking spots, that way it would be easier for them to park for school, also it would be nice so the underclassmen won’t take the better parking spots,” senior Mckenzie Park said.
The school should reserve parking spots for seniors, as they did for many classes before.
