Superintendent Joe La Fountaine is hosting a ‘State of the School’ event Monday, Jan. 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the gymnasium. The public is invited.
La Fountaine wants to promote what is happening at Days Creek Charter School and also field questions from the public.
“They can participate and ask questions about schools. They can also tour the building,” La Fountaine said. “I wish people would come here and see what amazing things we are doing.”
The event will begin with a pledge of allegiance. There will also be songs performed by elementary music students. In addition to a presentation by La Fountaine, administrators James Ellis and Cathy Knapp will also speak.
La Fountaine especially wants to reach out to members in the Days Creek, Milo and Tiller communities who don’t have a child at the school.
“It’s their school; they pay for it through their tax dollars,” he said. “ Many don’t have a child here. My hope is they can learn about the school and what we do here.
“There are a lot of negative connotations about public schools post-Covid.”
La Fountaine said he will provide information about the seismic grant the school received and introduce new scoreboards for the baseball and softball fields.
