The Umpqua National Forest is going to be conducting controlled fires to remove branches and fallen trees to prevent wildfires near Days Creek.
The region has suffered fires this summer, especially in our area.
The planned date for the controlled burns are now through Monday. There is gonna be a total of 62 acres burned throughout the prescribed burning time. They will be near Mill Hill, 3C Campground and the Tiller Ranger Station.
Our onsite resources are Forest service, Engines, and EMT’s as well as Tiller Volunteer Fire Department. The objective for these firefighters is to reduce the risk of wildfires and and onsite hazards
The only concerns we have are that the smoke from the controlled burns are going to impact tiller highway and some camp grounds. So the Tiller VFD is secluding people from staying there.
