Days Creek is now offering ping pong as a varsity sport.

The addition comes out of ping pong being a favorite lunchtime activity.

Coaching the team will be Travis Fuller, his 17th coaching duty at the school.

The new team will have something extra helping it: the spirit of school ghost Esmerelda.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but Esmerelda was quite the ping pong player,” Fuller said. “Believe it or not, she met her end diving head-first for a winning point back in the 70s.”

The team’s shortest drive to competitions is 3 hours, as that is the closest school offering the sport.
