Days Creek is hosting a second annual fun run on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Shamrock Shuffle will features 5K and mile run/walks on Friday, March 17 at the school.

The cost is free for Days Creek students and staff, while T-shirts will be on sale for $13.

DC Fit, a program for improving health and wellness of Days Creek Charter School teachers, is organizing the event. In the 2021-22  school year, the DC Fit held a Turkey Trot 5K.

The 5K course (3.1 miles) takes runners and walkers up the school bike path and onto Days Creek Road. Participants then turn around on Woods Creek Road and return to the school.

The mile run/walk is on the school’s nature/fitness trail, installed in 2021 through and OSAA cross country/track grant.

New for this year’s run/walk will be an all-accessible mile walk, which will be eight laps on the paved bus loop. Mr. Ellis used the route for his mile runs as a longtime PE/Health teacher.

Junior Wyatt Geiger won the Turkey Trot 5K in 25:57. Luke Hooper won the mile run.
